WE EMBRACE GOOD MUSIC AT ST. STEPHEN’S!
OUR DIRECTOR OF MUSIC, ROBERTA ROWLAND-RAYBOLD, is an alum with honors from Wittenberg University, majoring in Organ Performance and Sacred Music, with a minor in Composition. Her research thesis was “The British Organs of Gray and Davison and Their Influence on Early American Organ Building” which was funded by the McGregor Foundation of Detroit. This project took her to England, Scotland, and Wales, where she presented organ recitals on historic instruments of the Gray and Davison firm. She has done graduate work at Eastman School of Music and Houghton University. Her piano and organ compositions are published with Augsburg Fortress and Lorenz Publications.
MUSIC AT ST. STEPHEN’S HAS GROWN! We have welcomed a new Walker organ (three manuals, 36 ranks), a new Kawai grand piano for our sanctuary, a new Kawai in our Choir Room, and the installation of a Verdin Carillon system. Our music program is traditional in character, but we welcome occasional contemporary compositions and Spirituals. Our Chancel Choir includes Choral Scholars; our musicians sing weekly from September through June. Special solos, vocal, and instrumental are shared during summer months.
POSITION OPEN!
We are currently interviewing for a tenor and a bass section leader. This position includes a weekly choir rehearsal and one of our Sunday worship services. There are opportunities for additional solo work if the individual is interested. Compensation is “per call” and paid monthly. The positions are open immediately. Please contact the Director of Music for further information.
Roberta Rowland-Raybold, c.a.g.o.
