5th ANNUAL GRAND STRAND PRO-AM

Picture this!!! I'm sitting at my office
desk and I'm speechless. The response
to our plea for hole sponsors has been
literally overwhelming. Its five days after
the tournament and we're still getting new hole sign donations and double payments. The one thing that can be assured, the 5th Annual Pro-Am was a complete success. It appears we will
reach eighty-nine hole sponsors, thirty-three
teams and a profit of $13,500.

When the people of St. Stephen's are asked, they respond. God is Good, All the Time.

For those who missed the event, the St.
Stephen's men were out in force, cooking and serving the food, placing the hole signs on the tees while our ladies sold a record $1,350 in raffle tickets.

Father Bob lead us in prayer. John and
Pat cooked 180 breakfast sandwiches
and Penny Crawford represented the
entire parish as the lone St. Stephen's
golfer. It was something like the Lone
Ranger without silver bullets.
While the real winners were the three
Helping Hands on the Grand Strand the
tournament winners were as follows:

1st Place Professional-Jon Fritz
(Tie at 69) Chuck Johns

1st Place Team with a net 125

Randy Broughton (PGA)

Linwood Foster

Sammy Truett

Mickey Moss

2nd Place Team with a net 129

Dale Ketola (PGA)

Jon Silebaken

Jay McCallister

Darrell Ketola

The Shoot-Out winner was Dale Ketola,
Head Teaching Pro at the Greg Norman
Academy at Barefoot who scored a par
on the par five ninth hole on the Waterway
course. Over the years, Dale has
become a regular winner having won the
shoot-out three times. Dale carted home
$1,500 for his well deserved victory over
Jon Fritz and eleven others.

The tournament could not be what it is
without Eddie Dennis, Head Professional
of Arrowhead Country Club and his staff.
Eddie and his staff assist tirelessly in the
promotion and management of the tournament
side of the event. Without them and the donation of the course, we could not be as successful.

Once again, St. Stephen's has distinguished itself by holding what is considered by many, the best tournament of the year.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, June 21, 2012
when the sixth annual Grand Strand will be held.

Rich Jacobs

Tournament Chairman
